How to Draw Touka Kirishima

We have already discussed the general principles of drawing anime characters in other tutorials. This time, we will see how the same principles work with a female character. In this tutorial, we will apply these principles to drawing Touka Kirishima from Tokyo Ghoul.
How to draw Touka Kirishima step by step
Step 1: Sketch Touka’s basic figure
Block in the basic structure of Touka Kirishima’s figure. Use a stick figure for this. First, mark the head and spine. Then add the rib cage and pelvis. After that, indicate the limbs with simple lines. She has the physique of a teenager. The shoulders should be slightly wider than the head. Remember that we are drawing a girl.

Step 2: Add volume to Touka’s figure
To draw the anime face, mark two lines crossing at the center of the face. Next, indicate the neck as a long cylinder. Shape Touka’s torso with a slight, smooth taper toward the waist and a wider form at the hips. Also, outline the slender arms and legs. Construct the limbs as three-dimensional forms. Indicate the knees and elbows with simple spherical shapes.

Step 3: Sketch Touka’s main details
First, sketch the anime hairstyle. Along the horizontal guideline, add one eye and one eyebrow. Next, mark the small nose and lips as two short dashes. Finally, outline Touka’s tight-fitting clothes. Since the clothing fits closely around the body, its contours should follow the forms of the chest, waist, and hips established in the previous step.

Step 4: Draw Touka’s face and hair
From this point, work on the final details of Touka Kirishima. Begin with her short hair, drawing it carefully over the construction lines. Then define the contours of the face. Draw the anime girl’s eye with its pupil, then add the eyebrow, nose, and lips. Account for the slight turn of the head. Erase the remaining guidelines from the head.

Step 5: Detail the anime clothing details
Continue with the clothing covering Touka’s torso. Follow the lines from the previous steps and draw the anime clothes in greater detail. Touka wears a tight vest over a thin shirt. Add the pockets and borders within the vest. On the shirt, draw the high collar and several buttons.

Step 6: Draw Touka’s arms and hands
Move on to Touka’s arms and draw them in detail. Outline the shirt sleeves and open palms with clear lines. Add the main fabric folds around the elbows, where the sleeves change direction with the bend of the arms. Take particular care when you draw the anime hands. Establish the overall shape and direction of each hand before adding the individual fingers.

Step 7: Refine and complete the legs
Continue with Touka Kirishima’s legs and boots. Define the final contours of the legs with dark, curved lines. Indicate the knees and narrow the contours below them toward the ankles. Draw the boots around the forms of the feet and indicate the direction of the toes. Add a few folds where the fabric bends or changes direction.

Step 8: Add shadows to the anime character
Manga art frequently uses dark, contrasting shadows. Here, we will use lighter and slightly more realistic shading. First, determine the direction of the light. Then apply light hatching to the areas turned away from it. Deepen the shadows slightly where necessary. Let the hatching follow the forms of the body and clothing.

This was another anime drawing tutorial in which we tried to show you how to draw Touka Kirishima in a simple way.
We are not a website that specializes in drawing anime. We have many other sections, as you can see. However, we really love anime and regularly create tutorials on this subject.
When drawing Touka again, pay more attention to the construction beneath the final contours. The simplified features of an anime character do not eliminate the basic forms of the head and body. Understanding these forms will help you draw the same Tokyo Ghoul character in a different pose or from another angle.
Touka is already the third Tokyo Ghoul character on our site. You can also draw Ken Kaneki and draw Koutarou Amon. And if you want another character from the same dark universe, continue with our tutorial on drawing Uta from Tokyo Ghoul.
