How to Draw Lego Wolverine

In this lesson, we will show you how to draw LEGO Wolverine and explain how to make the character recognizable in this style.
At its core, absolutely all LEGO-style characters have the same basic shape and the same drawing scheme, with only small differences in the details and textures.
For example, if we look at LEGO Wolverine, we’ll see a standard LEGO minifigure, but with the texture of his suit, claws, and his distinctive hairstyle.
All of these details are exactly what we will recreate in this LEGO Wolverine drawing lesson, trying to give him the most recognizable and authentic look possible.
This lesson continues our main Wolverine drawing lesson in many ways, where we drew this superhero in the original comic-book style, but here we will study a stylized toy version instead.
How to draw Lego Wolverine step by step
Step 1: Block in head and torso
Any LEGO minifigure, including LEGO Wolverine, consists of sections and different blocks of various shapes. The main central part is the block with the head and torso, so start with them by outlining the head as a rectangular shape and the torso as a larger volume right below it.

Step 2: Sketch the arms and claws
Now it’s time to start adding the limb blocks, beginning with the upper part. Using light lines, sketch the arms of the LEGO superhero along with the basic shapes of the claws. In this lesson, we won’t draw realistic Wolverine claws – we’ll limit ourselves to the toy-like, simplified forms.

Step 3: Draw the face of LEGO Wolverine
Now move on to the head and sketch the round eyes and the outlines of the eyebrows above them. Slightly lower, outline the mouth as an oval geometric shape. In the lower part of the figure, sketch the legs as wide, blocky forms. Don’t go into details yet – at this stage you only need to establish the general shapes and the placement of the facial features.

Step 4: Sketch the hair shape and sideburns
One of Wolverine’s most recognizable features is his hairstyle and sideburns. This detail will be one of the key elements that sets this LEGO minifigure apart from others. In the upper part of the head, carefully sketch the overall shape of the hairstyle using simple forms. Then outline the shapes of the sideburns on both sides.

Step 5: Trace and detail the face
The main shapes and basic construction lines are now ready, so you can start drawing Wolverine’s head. Use clean, confident lines to draw the eyes and eyebrows of LEGO Wolverine. Then outline the mouth and add stubble on the lower part of the face using short strokes or dots. Add a couple of wrinkles on the sides of the eyes.

Step 6: Detail the hair of LEGO Wolverine
To finish drawing Wolverine’s head, outline his iconic hairstyle. Using smooth, clean lines, trace the entire shape and try to achieve a symmetrical result. Erase all construction lines and marks that were previously sketched on the head. Add some hair texture with short strokes following the direction of the shape.

Step 7: Add the torso muscles and suit guides
On the torso of the comic-book character, carefully sketch the outlines of the muscles in a basic form. Then, with light lines, outline the belt and the texture of the suit, without going into details yet. After that, move to the claws and sketch three individual claws on each hand.

Step 8: Adjust the legs and check the proportions
Even though this is a simplified LEGO version, the character still needs a symmetrical and convincing shape. Go over the entire drawing and correct any proportion mistakes that may have been made. Make the legs slightly more solid and more symmetrical.

Step 9: Finalize the torso of LEGO X-Man
Now move on to the torso and give it a finished look. Use clean, confident lines to trace the outlines of this part. Then carefully draw all LEGO Wolverine’s suit details, including the famous stripes and the belt with the X symbol in the center. Wolverine has had many different suits over the years, so here you can change the texture to a different version if you want.

Step 10: Draw the claws of LEGO Wolverine in detail
LEGO character arms are shaped like curved cylinders, so try to convey this form by carefully tracing the basic lines from the previous steps. Then move to the hands and carefully draw the claws of LEGO Wolverine, trying to keep them symmetrical and proportional.

Step 11: Finish the legs and add shading
Now finish the lower part by carefully outlining the legs. After that, give your Wolverine drawing a more three-dimensional look by adding shading. Following the usual approach, first determine where the light is coming from, then carefully apply simple, even hatching to the areas that are not lit.

The LEGO Wolverine drawing lesson, as we already mentioned, is based on the principles of drawing a LEGO character with a consistent shape.
All of these fundamental principles can now be applied to drawing any other character from Marvel, DC, or other universes.
For example, you can draw Spider-Man using the principles explained in this lesson and create his LEGO version. Or you can move on to cartoon characters and try drawing them in this style as well.
It’s also worth noting that drawing LEGO characters in this way is very similar to what we showed in our lesson on how to draw Steve from Minecraft.
In these two lessons, you can see the same block-like forms and similar figure construction, as well as the addition of texture to the shape to make the character recognizable.
