How to Draw Pinkie Pie

How to draw Pinkie Pie step by step

Step 1: Draw the pony’s head circle

Begin the pony drawing with a large circle positioned above and to the left of the center of the paper. This circle will form Pinkie Pie’s head.

Step 2: Add the pony’s body

Below the circle from the previous step, draw a shape resembling an inverted bean or a sleeping character like the one created when drawing a Minion from Despicable Me. This shape represents the pony’s body.

Step 3: Connect the head and body

Connect the two shapes from the previous steps with two smooth, roughly parallel lines, making one significantly longer than the other. We used the same construction when drawing Twilight Sparkle.

Step 4: Sketch the pony’s legs

This stage requires careful attention. Sketch the outlines of Pinkie Pie’s legs using shapes similar to elongated ovals.

Step 5: Mark the facial guidelines

Mark Pinkie Pie’s face with a vertical line of symmetry and a horizontal eye guideline. These lines will help position the facial features.

Use the facial guidelines to outline the eyes, nose, and mouth. The eye on our right resembles an inverted egg, while the other appears much smaller because of the angle.

Continue by drawing the cartoon eyes. Add the pupils and leave small highlights inside them. Complete the eyes with upward-curving eyelashes.

At the top of the head, lightly outline the hair and ears.

Step 9: Draw the curly mane of Pinkie Pie

Draw the mane and bangs with smooth, wavy lines, following the construction from the previous step. Add the nostril and tongue.

Trace the contours of the legs and make each one widen slightly toward the hoof.

Step 11: Clean the leg outlines

Erase the extra guidelines from the legs to give them a finished appearance. Then fill in the pupils while preserving the highlights.

Draw the three balloon symbols on Pinkie Pie’s flank, reflecting her love of parties. Complete the drawing by shaping the tail with smooth, curling lines.
