Hello dear readers! In this drawing lesson we will show you how to draw a bogatyr. The bogatyrs – characters of tales and stories that differ a great force, and perform heroic feats.
We draw the body of bogatyr using rules of drawing a man. We start with the head drawing it in the shape of an oval or circle. Then sketch out the neck and spine using lines. Next draw the shoulders, pelvis, arms and legs. By the way similar pose has the cossack in one of our previous drawing lessons.
Continue drawing bogatyr. Add some volume to the figure. Draw the parts of the the body in shape of geometric figures. Circles for shoulders, elbows and knees. Different cylinders for torso, arms and legs. Sketch out the sword and shield in the arms.
Add some general detail. Sketch out the helmet at the head with a hanging down chain mail. At the lower part of the body sketch out belt, scabbard and armor covering the thighs.
Start adding the final details. Draw out the helmet with all details like in our example below. Draw out the eyes and chain mail that covers all lower part of the face, neck and shoulders. Add some folds to the chain mail.
Draw out the armor on the chest. Draw out all belts and straps wrapped around the waist and holding the weapons. Next draw the dagger and scabbard. Also draw the armor and fabric that cover the pelvis and thigh of our bogatyr.
Now draw details on the arms. Draw out the armor on the shoulders and gloves. Add some folds to the clothing on the arms. Draw out the long sword and shield.
And we move to the lower part of body of bogatyr. Draw out the pants with a lot of folds. Do not forget to observe the direction of the folds. Draw out the long boots and add some folds in the joints area.
In this simple step let’s add texture to the chain mail using simple cross hatching. Then draw the squares of armor on the chest pelvis.
And as all our drawing lessons we add shadows on the last step. If suggest that the light falls on bogatir from right side of drawing so we need to add shadows to the opposite parts of the body.
