How to Draw Kolobok

Finished drawing of Kolobok with a smiling face and visible tongue

This step-by-step tutorial will show you how to draw Kolobok, a very unusual character from East Slavic fairy tales and cartoons.

For those who do not know, Kolobok is a folk tale character represented as a small, round loaf of bread that ran away from its grandparents and several animals – a hare, a wolf, and a bear – but was eventually eaten by a fox.

How to draw Kolobok step by step

Step 1: Sketch the character’s round body

First, draw a circle. We started the tutorials on drawing Angry Birds, and drawing Eric Cartman. The shape does not have to be perfectly round, after all, it is a piece of bread.

Step 2: Add the facial guidelines

Mark the sphere with a vertical facial symmetry line and a horizontal eye guideline. Note that the vertical line shows the turn of the head and body.

Step 3: Draw the cartoon eyes and nose

Above the horizontal guideline, draw the cartoon eyes of Kolobok. At the intersection of the guidelines, draw the nose.

Step 4: Add the cheeks and mouth

Using a pair of curved lines, draw the cheeks. Draw the smiling mouth as shown in our example.

Step 5: Refine the facial outlines

Erase the guidelines and trace the remaining lines, making them dark and smooth.

Step 6: Finish the facial details

Using thick lines, draw the eyebrows. Draw the pupils and eyelashes. Finish by drawing the tongue inside the mouth.
