How to Draw a Shotgun

One of the most common weapons seen in games and comics is the pump-action shotgun. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to draw a shotgun with its characteristic features using simple basic lines and shapes.
Once you understand how to draw it, you’ll be able to create different scenes with this weapon and characters holding it in their hands.
How to draw a shotgun step by step
Step 1: Sketch the shotgun outline
First, sketch the general shape of the shotgun using very light lines. Draw the long barrel and then outline the stock at the rear. At this stage, sketch only the overall shape and arrangement of these main parts without adding any small details.

Step 2: Add the shotgun details
Now start adding the main details of the shotgun, still using light lines. Under the barrel, outline the long forearm as shown in our example. Then move to the receiver and sketch the loading port. Below it, draw the trigger guard and indicate the trigger inside.

Step 3: Refine the front section
Start detailing the shotgun from the front. Carefully trace the barrel with darker and cleaner lines, gradually erasing the light construction lines from the previous steps. Then refine the forearm below the barrel and add the small details shown in our example.

Step 4: Finish the shotgun drawing
Now move to the rear part of the shotgun and repeat the same process. Refine the receiver with clean, darker lines, then carefully draw the loading port, trigger guard, and trigger. After that, trace the final contours of the stock and erase all the remaining construction lines.

Now that you know how to draw a shotgun, try changing some of its details. You can make the barrel shorter or longer, change the shape of the stock, or add other elements.
You can also practice drawing other types of firearms, if you want to create a more detailed scene. For example, try to draw a gun or draw a sniper rifle.
These types of weapons are often found side by side in the weapon selection of classic games such as Call of Duty.
Finally, you can create a more complete scene by adding a character holding the shotgun or drawing other objects around it. For example, you can draw a grenade next to it and create your own game or comic book scene.
