How to Draw an Air Conditioner

Finished air conditioner drawing with front vents and a three-dimensional case.

An air conditioner has a fairly simple shape, but even such a simple object has several details that are important to depict correctly. In this tutorial, we will show you how to draw an air conditioner step by step.

Most of this drawing consists of straight lines. Pay attention to their direction and placement, especially when drawing the case and the vents on the front of the air conditioner. All these parts should follow the rules of linear perspective.

How to draw an air conditioner step by step

Step 1: Sketch the air conditioner

Block in the general shape of the air conditioner as a trapezoid. The upper and lower lines should follow the rules of linear perspective and converge slightly as they move away from us. You can use a different geometric shape if you want to depict the air conditioner from a different point of view.

Step 2: Draw the side panel

Now draw the side of the air conditioner. To do this, add a vertical line near the right edge of the trapezoid from the previous step. This simple line will help convey the three-dimensional shape of the case.

Step 3: Mark the front panel

Draw two straight lines across the front of the air conditioner. Notice their direction in relation to the outer contours of the case. These lines will mark the area where we will later draw the vents.

Step 4: Refine the conditioner case

Now refine the outer contours of the air conditioner, drawing the lower part of the case with smooth curved lines and round the corners slightly. Then erase the unnecessary auxiliary lines from the drawing.

Step 5: Draw the air vents

Finally, draw a series of straight lines on the front of the air conditioner to depict the vents. You can draw fewer lines than in our drawing, but make sure that they follow the direction of the front panel.

The main difficulty here is to draw the correct shape of the rectangular box so that all its edges and faces lie on the proper planes and do not fall apart in space. To improve this skill, be sure to study our tutorial on drawing a cube.

Another difficulty in drawing an air conditioner is the large number of straight lines. Try drawing them without a ruler. This is a good way to practice drawing straight lines and simple geometric shapes.

You can use the same approach when drawing other household appliances with dimensional rectangular geometric forms. For example, try to draw a refrigerator.
