How to Draw Chibi Yuno Gasai

We have too few chibi characters, right? We are sure there are not enough. We like to draw chibi characters because they are good practice for drawing cartoon figures with unusual proportions and expressive faces.

Here we decided to create a tutorial on how to draw chibi Yuno Gasai. She is a character from the anime Future Diary.

How to draw chibi Yuno Gasai step by step

Step 1: Sketch the chibi head and torso

As in our other chibi drawing tutorials, we will begin with the outlines of the head and torso. Chibi characters usually have a large round head and a small body. This guide is no exception, as you can see. The head should be about twice as wide as the body. Draw these first lines very lightly.

Step 2: Draw Yuno’s arms and legs

The limbs should be proportionate to the body, but in general, they are very small. Bend the left arm at a right angle. Draw the arms and legs very lightly and keep their shapes simple, according to the simplified shapes and proportions of the chibi figure.

Step 3: Add the chibi face and dress

First, sketch the huge chibi eyes. The height of the eyes is about equal to the distance from their upper edges to the top of the head. Use smooth lines to mark the lower edges of the eyes and the mouth. Then, sketch the simplified hairstyle and add the clothes using light pencil strokes.

Step 4: Refine Yuno Gasai’s head

Starting with this step, use clear, clean contours. Draw the oval pupils. Add the eyebrows over the hair. Yes, it is a bit strange, but in chibi and anime characters it is totally normal. Draw the long pigtails on both sides of the head and refine the facial features and hair with clean lines. After that, erase the extra lines from the head of chibi Yuno Gasai.

Step 5: Detail the clothes and bows

You can see three bows on the pigtails and chest of our heroine. Draw them using dark lines. These details are an important part of Yuno Gasai’s appearance. Make the two bows on the pigtails approximately the same size. After that, trace the clothes, and mark the folds on the skirt and the outlines of the jacket. Draw only the main folds of the short skirt and keep the outlines of the clothes clean and simple.

Step 6: Add shadows to Yuno Gasai

Small areas of dense shadow are all we need to complete this chibi Yuno drawing. Add shadows at the base of the pigtails and on the legs. These dark areas separate the parts of the drawing from each other. Add light hatching to the other shaded areas if you want to make the drawing more complete.
