How to Draw a Hand Saw

A saw is a very simple object to draw, consisting of two basic forms. In this tutorial, you will learn how to draw a saw by constructing it from two simple parts and adding the necessary details.
At the very end, we will show you how to add simple shadows to create volume.
How to draw a hand saw step by step
Step 1: Sketch the saw blade
First of all, using straight and clear lines, draw the blade of the hand saw as in our example. The upper edge should be almost straight, while the lower edge goes slightly upward toward the front. At this stage, sketch only the general shape without the cutting teeth.

Step 2: Add the saw handle
Continuing to use clear lines, draw the handle of our hand saw. It is located at the wide end of the blade and has a slightly rounded shape.

Step 3: Detail the tool’s handle
Now draw a large hole inside the handle in the shape of an oval. After that, draw the screws that connect the handle to the blade.

Step 4: Draw the cutting teeth
With the help of a zigzag line, draw the cutting edge of the saw. Try to make the teeth approximately the same size and place them along the entire lower edge of the blade. Erase all unnecessary lines, then add a few shadows and highlights to make the hand saw drawing look more realistic.

So, this was our tutorial on how to draw a hand saw. Using the same principles, you can draw saws with different blade lengths, handle shapes, and tooth sizes. Try drawing several versions to practice these simple forms.
We often say that such simple tutorials are a great way to practice your drawing skills, and this hand saw drawing tutorial is no exception. You can create many such short and quick sketches in a relatively short time.
It is also a great way to learn how to draw different simple forms and combine them into simple everyday objects.
For example, using a couple of simple forms for the handle and head, you can draw a hammer. Or, using slightly more complex forms, you can draw a drill.
All these forms can vary, and you can change their small details as you like, giving the tools a more unique appearance.
