How to Draw a Chimera
Hello dear artists. We already drew a huge amount of very interesting drawing lessons about myth and legends, such as lessons about golem, lich and troll. Today we present you another lesson about a mythical creature. Here we will show you how to draw a chimera. In Greek mythology, it is a monster with a head and neck of a lion, a trunk of a goat, a tail in the form of a snake; generation of Typhon and Echidna.
Step 1
As always we will begin our drawing lesson with the skeleton of our chimera. But as you can see, this is the most unusual skeleton of all that we drew on our website. So, first of all sketch out the head in the form of an oval. Next, outline the spine, chest and pelvis. Above the pelvis draw one more head, but little smaller than the first. Sketch out the limbs and tail-snake.
Step 2
Now let’s add some volume to the drawing of our chimera. The first thing we do is draw the lines on the heads, using which we will draw eyes and other facial features. Then draw the neck. Connect the chest and pelvis and form the torso of the chimera. Thicken the limbs and make the tail look more like a snake.
Step 3
Let’s work with the heads of our chimera. Let’s start with the lion’s head. Using the lines on the head draw the eyes. A little lower draw the nose and mouth. By the way, to learn how to draw the face of a lion or a tiger, visit a lesson about how to paint a tiger’s head.
Step 4
This is the easiest step of the lesson about how to draw chimera. Here we will only need to erase all the unnecessary lines from the chimera’s head and gently draw the details of the face.
Step 5
So, let’s take care of the mane of the lion’s head. Using short and slightly curved lines draw the hair on the mane. The mane should be large, lush and fluffy. Don’t forget to erase all the guidelines from the head and neck of the lion.
Step 6
Using the same principles that we used when drawing the lion’s head, we will now draw the goat’s head of our chimera. Draw the eyes, muzzle, ears, beard and long horns.
Step 7
Continue drawing tutorial about how to draw a chimera. Let’s work the front paws of the lion. They must be powerful and sufficiently rounded. Paws should not look like just pipes, that is, you must consider the presence of muscles and bones under the skin.
Step 8
Now let’s draw the hind legs of our chimera. Using curved lines carefully draw out the outline of the legs, taking into account the muscles, tendons and bones under the skin.
Step 9
So we got to the last step in the drawing lesson about how to draw a chimera. Accurately draw a tail-snake. Draw out the snake’s head with all the details and add the strips as in our example.
