How to Draw Bart Simpson

Finished drawing of Bart Simpson standing with his hands at his sides

In this step-by-step tutorial, we’ll show you how to draw Bart Simpson, one of the most famous cartoon characters.

Bart is one of the main characters from the well-known animated series The Simpsons. During the 1995–2004 seasons, Bart, like the other residents of Springfield, was especially vivid and memorable.

How to draw Bart Simpson step by step

Step 1: Sketch Bart’s upper body

Once, Homer told Lisa that he consists of circles. We liked this idea and created a Bart Simpson drawing using circular shapes.

Draw one large circle near the top of the page. Then add two lines shaped like the upper part of an hourglass.

Step 2: Add the cartoon lower body

Now add another circle and two more lines in the lower part of the drawing. The construction should now resemble an hourglass.

Step 3: Draw Bart’s the eyes and nose

Use circles again when drawing the cartoon eyes. Then sketch the nose, which resembles a sausage. Pay attention to the position of the nose relative to the eyes.

Step 4: Outline the mouth and jaw

Outline the upper and lower jaw. These parts of the face are formed by one smoothly curved line, marked here in red.

Do not forget the ear and teeth. Here is the drawing without the red marking:

Step 5: Add the head and hands

Erase the unnecessary lines from Bart’s face. Draw the upper part of the head and the torso. Do not forget the pupils. Also sketch the hands, which resemble the shapes used when drawing mushrooms.

Step 6: Draw Bart Simpson’s shorts and shoes

Continue by drawing the shorts with straight lines. Then add the legs and shoes.

Step 7: Complete the Bart Simpson drawing

The drawing is now nearly complete. Erase all unnecessary construction lines from the previous steps.

The Simpsons was one of our team’s favorite animated series, and we spent countless hours enjoying its stories.

The characters from the show also helped us develop our drawing skills when we first became interested in art.
