How to Draw Avatar Korra

In this step-by-step tutorial, we will show you how to draw Korra, the powerful Avatar from The Legend of Korra, in a detailed and realistic style.
As you probably know, Korra is a young girl with magical control over water, fire, and earth. In this tutorial, we will use an anime-inspired style and review some basic rules for drawing the female body.
How to draw Korra step by step
Step 1: Sketch Korra’s basic pose
Begin with a stick figure. The main rules for drawing a female figure also apply here, but Korra’s shoulders are slightly wider than those of an average girl.

Step 2: Build Korra’s body shape
Now work on Korra’s silhouette. By the end of this stage, you should have a slender feminine figure.
Note:
- The neck should look like a long, thin cylinder;
- The arms and neck should be slim and graceful, without noticeable thickening;
- The body should have an hourglass shape, with a narrow waist between a broad chest and wide hips;
- The upper thighs should be rounded and gradually narrow toward the knee joints.
Korra’s figure should look graceful. If the hands, feet, or shoulders appear too large in your drawing, correct their size.
Also draw the main facial guidelines.

Step 3: Mark the face and hair
Use the facial guidelines from the previous step to sketch Korra’s eyes, nose, and mouth. The eyes are almond-shaped, while the nose and mouth look like short dashes.
Also mark the shape of Korra’s hair. In the fourth season of the series, Korra replaced her long hair with a very short haircut. Many people believe that this made her look more feminine.

Step 4: Refine Korra’s face and hair
Draw Korra’s face in detail and refine the final shape of her hair. Use smooth lines when drawing the hairstyle, and guide each strand from the roots toward the ends.

Step 5: Outline Korra’s clothing
Now draw Korra’s clothing. Her upper body is covered by tight-fitting clothes, while her legs are covered by wide, loose pants.

Step 6: Refine the arms and hands
Erase all unnecessary construction lines from Korra’s arms and body. Then draw the hands of Korra, paying close attention to the fingers and their placement.

Step 7: Finish the legs and shadows
Complete the drawing of Korra by adding details to the legs, drawing fabric folds, and applying shadows.
