How to Draw a Porsche Easy

Finished Porsche 911 drawing with clean contours and detailed five-spoke rims.

The Porsche 911 is probably one of the most beloved and legendary sports cars of all time, and its design has changed relatively little since its inception.

Indeed, Porsche designers were able to create a truly legendary appearance that is recognizable to car lovers around the world. Car lovers among the readers of Drawingforall.net have often asked us to show how to draw a Porsche in a simple way, and we decided to make this lesson using the legendary Porsche 911 as an example.

How to draw a Porsche step by step

Step 1: Sketch the Porsche 911 body

As in the other tutorials, begin by using very light lines to draw the outlines of the Porsche body. The contours should be very smooth, unlike the sharper contours of a Lamborghini. First of all, outline the hood, then the roof and the rear of the sports car. Pay particular attention to the long curve that runs from the roof toward the rear of the sports car. Do not press too hard on the pencil.

Step 2: Add the headlights, windows, and wheels

Now we need to make our sketch more like a Porsche. To do this, outline the contours of the main parts, such as the headlights, windows, and wheels. All these details also need to be sketched using very light lines. The Porsche headlights should be oval, and the windows should be fairly narrow.

Step 3: Sketch the bumper and wheel arches

Continue to add details and make the drawing more similar to the Porsche. Sketch the contours of the air intakes in the front bumper. On the side of the Porsche, draw the outlines of the rear-view mirror and the door. Now comes a fairly difficult part – outline the wheel arches and give the wheels more volume. Keep the wheel arches smooth and follow the curvature of the wheels.

Step 4: Refine the Porsche’s front end

These were the main outlines of the Porsche, and starting with this step, we will refine the sports car with clearer lines. Using these darker lines, draw the oval headlights, hood, and air intakes on the bumper. Preserve the rounded look of the Porsche front. Do not forget to remove the unnecessary lines and draw the Porsche logo between the headlights.

Step 5: Draw the narrow windows and mirror

Now let’s move to the top of our Porsche 911 and carefully trace the outlines of the narrow windows, rear-view mirror, and roof, which smoothly transitions into the rear. Pay attention to the window pillars and the curved upper contour of the side windows. Erase the unnecessary guidelines from the upper part of the coupe.

Step 6: Draw the door and handle

Finish drawing the body of the Porsche. Carefully draw the final contours of the door and outline the handle. Keep the lower side contour of the coupe smooth and clean. It should follow the overall streamlined design of the car. Ease the remaining guidelines from the car body.

Step 7: Refine the Porsche wheels

This step will be quite challenging, since the wheels that we draw here should be as smooth and symmetrical as possible. Carefully refine the outer contours of both tires and draw the inner circles for the rims. Compare the two 911 wheels with each other as you work so that they have a consistent shape and size. Use the eraser to remove all the remaining unnecessary guidelines.

Step 8: Draw the five-spoke rims

Mark the center of each wheel, then draw five spokes extending from the center toward the outer edge of the rim. Keep the spacing between the spokes as even as possible and make both five-spoke rims follow the same design. You can leave the picture as in the example below or add shadows and color.

In this Porsche tutorial, we showed the process of drawing the sports car in the simplest way. We tried to simplify the lines and avoid unnecessary tones and details so that the characteristic shape of the Porsche remains the main focus.

In fact, this tutorial can serve as a general guide: using the knowledge gained from this article, you can draw other Porsche models or different versions of the 911, which has received many updates over its long history.

Above, you can see two more Porsche drawings made using the same method as in this tutorial. As we have said, the body of the Porsche 911 has not changed much over the years, so using this guide you will also be able to draw older models.

Using the same techniques and carefully changing the necessary parts, you can draw a Porsche 911, the company’s most famous sports car, or draw a Porsche Boxster, a less famous model that still has the same characteristic Porsche features.

Notice that you can change details such as the roof, bumpers, wheels, and body lines without changing the basic method of constructing the car. So feel free to experiment, draw more, practice, and improve your car drawing skills.
