How to Draw a Chibi in a Sailor Outfit

Finished chibi drawing in a sailor outfit with long hair.

Chibi characters have few details and are drawn in a highly simplified style. This version is especially straightforward, with a large head, a small body, and a simple sailor outfit. In this tutorial, we will show you how to draw a chibi in a sailor outfit.

How to draw a chibi in a sailor outfit step by step

Step 1: Outline the chibi head

First, draw a large shape for the chibi character’s head. Then add two light guidelines across the face. Place the horizontal eye guideline very low on the face, leaving plenty of space for the forehead. This will give the character an even more pronounced chibi appearance.

Step 2: Sketch the small body

Next, sketch the chibi character’s small body beneath the head. Use light lines to outline the short torso, arms, and legs. Keep the shapes simple and make the body much smaller than the head.

Step 3: Draw the facial features

Now, draw the large chibi eyes along the horizontal guideline. Add the pupils and small highlights inside them. After that, sketch a short curved line for the smiling mouth near the bottom of the face.

Step 4: Add the long chibi hair

Now draw the anime hair with long locks and two pigtails. You can also choose a different hairstyle. Add long locks on both sides and two large bunches near the shoulders. Finish by drawing the bangs with several pointed strands across the forehead.

Step 5: Draw the sailor outfit

First, draw the sailor collar and necktie around the neck. Next, sketch the long sleeves. After that, draw the skirt using simple shapes. Finish by adding thin decorative lines along the edges of the sleeves and skirt.
