How to Draw the Mandalorian Helmet

Completed Mandalorian helmet drawing with detailed contours and light shading.

In this drawing guide, we will show you how to draw the Mandalorian helmet. This character became very popular after the first episode of the story about the charismatic mercenary from the Star Wars universe.

How to draw the Mandalorian helmet step by step

Step 1: Outline the helmet shape

First, outline the contours of the helmet. It has an oval shape that extends downward. Do not try to make the contour perfectly symmetrical yet.

Step 2: Draw the visor opening

Now draw the characteristic T-shaped visor on the helmet. The horizontal part narrows toward the sides. The vertical part has no bends.

Step 3: Add side and forehead details

Add the side pieces and a wide band across the forehead. This band should not connect to the horizontal line from the previous step.

Step 4: Connect the side panels

Outline two obtuse angles that connect the side pieces to the edges of the vertical visor from the second step.

Step 5: Draw the lower contours

Now draw two curved lines that start from the side pieces and smoothly bend toward the lower central part of the helmet. Connect these lines to the obtuse angles from the previous step.

Step 6: Add lower panel lines

Draw two more smooth lines on each side of the helmet. The vertical lines should extend slightly above the middle of the curved lines.

Step 7: Add small helmet details

Add two small squares inside the side pieces. Also draw a narrow vertical strip inside the forehead band from the third step.

Step 8: Clean up the helmet drawing

Erase the extra lines from the helmet. Most of the remaining guidelines are in the lower part of the Mandalorian helmet. Check the symmetry of the helmet and the placement of its individual parts. If everything looks correct, proceed to the next step.

Refining the Mandalorian helmet by removing extra construction lines.

Step 9: Add light helmet shading

Use light, sweeping, single-layer hatching to add shadows. The shading should be slightly darker on the lower parts of the side pieces. In this tutorial, we do not use cross-hatching.

Step 10: Finish the helmet drawing

Finally, look over the entire Mandalorian helmet drawing and make the last corrections. Darken the main contours where necessary, clean any remaining construction marks. The finished drawing should have a clean symmetrical look.

Now that you know how to draw the Mandalorian helmet, you can use the same basic principles to draw it from different angles or add it to a complete character.

You can also use references from different episodes of The Mandalorian or other Star Wars stories to add different details to the helmet and armor.
