How to Draw a Maine Coon Cat
In this guide, we will tell you how to draw a Maine Coon сat. We have long wanted to make a lesson about this magnificent breed of cats. Finally, we did it. This is a fairly simple lesson with twelve steps. Just follow this sequence and you will get great results. Hope you enjoy our guide!
Step 1
So, we start our guide on how to draw a Maine Coon сat. As in many other drawing lessons, in the first step of this lesson, we will only use simple geometric shapes. So, draw three circles to indicate the outlines of the head, neck, and torso, and four lines to indicate the limbs.
Step 2
We drew a great silhouette. Now let’s do a little bit of this and create a base for further detailing. First, draw two intersecting lines inside the face contour. After that, we will draw the ears and tail. Then, using smooth lines, we connect the figures of the torso and head.
Step 3
Let’s draw the front legs. As you can see, the paws of our cat look like smooth shapes that taper downward. At the distal ends of these figures, there are small smooth extensions.
Step 4
The hind legs look even simpler. One paw is very similar to the front paws, and the second, due to the peculiarities of the perspective, looks like two short smooth lines.
Step 5
We continue our guide on how to draw a Maine Coon Cat. We have a completed figure of this animal. To make this shape more vivid let’s draw a pair of eyes using the guidelines from the first step. Due to the peculiarities of the angle, one eye is located closer to the vertical line than the other.
Step 6
Let’s move a little lower and draw the nose and mouth of our cat. First, draw a shape that resembles a mushroom. Then add two equal-sized arcs that represent the cheeks. At the very bottom, we will draw one small rounded line that depicts the mouth.
Step 7
In this step, we outline the head with additional lines. On top of the head, the distance between the new and old lines is much greater. Just look at our sample and you will understand what it is about. Another action from this step is to draw the inner parts of the ears.
Step 8
Sometimes it’s pretty hard to tell a fluffy cat from a chubby one, isn’t it? Both types of cats have a fairly significant volume and a large amount of wool. In this step, we will draw the fur and extra volume. This is located in the lower part of the cat’s torso.
Step 9
We are pretty close to finishing this guide, we hope you are not too tired. In this step, we will create the fur texture on the hind legs, tail, and back of the torso.
Step 10
It’s time to remove all the auxiliary lines from the previous steps, and also draw the final outlines of our cat. Review your drawing again before moving on to the next step.
Step 11
In order to make our cat more lively and realistic, let’s add light shadows. As you can see, it looks like a single layer or crosshatch. Pay attention to the glare inside the pupils of the eyes, this is quite an important detail.
Step 12
So, we did a hard job and got a great result!
We hope that this drawing guide was simple enough. Now let’s get down to useful tips. In order to draw like a professional, it’s not enough just to draw an animal using this guide.
