How to Draw Chibi Sub-Zero

We continue our drawing tutorials on Mortal Kombat characters in the chibi style. Here, we will show you how to draw chibi Sub-Zero.
By the way, we recently created a tutorial on drawing chibi Scorpion in the same style. If you have wanted to learn how to draw in a cartoon style, you have found what you need.
How to draw chibi Sub-Zero step by step
Step 1: Sketch the fighter’s head and torso
Draw three shapes for the head, torso, and neck. The head should be significantly larger than the body. You have probably already seen this feature in other tutorials on drawing a chibi character.

Step 2: Add the limbs in a combat position
Draw the contours of the simplified limbs. Chibi limbs have no pronounced joints, so you can use elongated, rounded shapes. Note that the left arm is bent at an acute angle, while the right arm is bent at a right angle.

Step 3: Outline the mask and armor
Work on the contours of the character’s clothing. Draw Sub-Zero’s mask, then outline the samurai-style clothing on the torso and the greaves on the legs.

Step 4: Refine the face and hood
Begin outlining the final details of chibi Sub-Zero. Draw the exaggerated focused eyes without pupils, the mask, and the hood with a pair of fabric folds.

Step 5: Detail the hands and armor
Erase the extra lines from the torso and limbs. Outline the palms, clothing, and armor. Pay attention when drawing the bracers and greaves. These details are small, but they should be placed correctly.

Step 6: Add short hatched shadows
Add shadows to the chibi MK character using short, dense hatching. Do not make the shading too complex or use too many tones.

The chibi style uses a large head and a very small body. Try to draw as many chibi-style characters as possible, and over time, you will become a true master. See you on the pages of our site!
