How to Draw Star Lord

In this tutorial, we will show you how to draw Star-Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy. We have drawn many members of superhero teams and tried to cover the Marvel and DC universes as fully as possible, so this time we decided to return to the Guardians of the Galaxy and draw the leader of the team.

How to draw Star-Lord step by step

Step 1: Sketch the Star-Lord figure

If you watched the Marvel films, you may remember that Star-Lord sometimes has a somewhat heavier build. However, he did not always look this way. In this tutorial, we will draw him as a young man with a normal physique. The shoulders may seem somewhat narrower because of the angle. The pelvis looks wider because the character’s legs are straight.

Step 2: Shape the superhero torso

Draw the contours of Star-Lord’s neck, torso, and pelvis. You will not see the usual narrowing at the waist found on many other heroes with athletic physiques. In fact, Star-Lord is dressed in loose clothing, so here we are drawing the contours of his clothes rather than the body itself.

Step 3: Add the arms and legs

Now work on Star-Lord’s limbs. The arms should not have pronounced anatomical curves at this stage. Draw them using simple elongated forms and circles for the joints, almost as if you were drawing a wooden figure. The thighs and lower legs should have barely noticeable bends. Use large, simple shapes to indicate Star-Lord’s loose, wide pants.

Step 4: Sketch Star-Lord’s head details

The head of a comic book character is one of the most difficult parts of the drawing. Gently sketch the position of Star-Lord’s eyes, mark the nose with a short line, and indicate the mouth with another one. Then outline the jaw and hair.

Step 5: Refine Star-Lord’s masked face

Now draw the details of Star-Lord’s head. Refine the eyes and outline the mask around them. Next, draw the nose and mouth. After that, outline the jaw, ears, and hair. Do not forget to remove the unnecessary guidelines from the head.

Step 6: Draw Star-Lord’s costume

Now it is time to draw Star-Lord’s body in more detail. First, sketch the rectangular outline of his jacket. Next, draw the shirt and belt. At the end, remove the unnecessary guidelines from the torso.

Step 7: Refine the arms and blaster

Now move on to another rather difficult part of the Star-Lord drawing and refine the arms in detail. With clear and dark lines, outline the deltoids, biceps, and forearms. Then carefully draw the hands and Star-Lord’s blaster.

Step 8: Detail Star-Lord’s legs

Now draw Star-Lord’s legs in detail. As you can see, the pants make the legs look fairly wide and massive. With dark and slightly curved lines, carefully outline the legs and add the folds in the fabric. Then draw Star-Lord’s high boots.

Step 9: Add shadows with hatching

The Star-Lord drawing is almost finished, and now we need to add the shadows. First, shade the face and neck area. Next, darken the jacket and other deeply shaded parts of the costume. Then add shadows to Star-Lord’s legs using dense hatching.
