How to Draw a Chibi Cat Girl

Finished cute chibi cat girl drawing with ears and a tail

Simple step-by-step tutorials in the chibi style are a great way to begin learning how to draw more detailed anime and manga characters. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to draw a chibi cat girl with cat ears, a tail, and a simple costume.

There are no complex shapes or details, and this tutorial does not include any shading.

How to draw a chibi cat girl step by step

Step 1: Sketch the round chibi head

First, sketch the round head of the chibi character. Add one vertical and one horizontal guideline across the head to help place the facial features later.

Step 2: Outline the small body

Below the head, outline the small torso and legs using a long, smooth line. Make the body much smaller than the head to create the characteristic chibi appearance.

Step 3: Add arms and tail

Sketch the small arms along the sides of the torso. Then add a long, curved tail extending from behind the chibi cat girl’s body.

Step 4: Mark the facial details

Add more details to the cute chibi character. Begin by sketching the chibi cat’s ears, then mark the outlines of the eyes, eyebrows, and hair.

Step 5: Refine the large eyes

Using clear, dark lines, carefully refine the outlines of the large eyes. Add the upper eyelashes, then shade the pupils with hatching while leaving small highlights unshaded.

Step 6: Finish the cat girl

This step looks more complicated than it really is. Carefully trace the final outlines of the chibi cat girl with clear, dark lines, then erase the remaining guidelines.

This tutorial was quite specific because we decided to create a chibi character in the form of a cute little cat girl.

However, you can make the character slightly different, for example, by drawing a cute chibi fox or drawing a small chibi wolf and adding the corresponding animal details.

    1. Never lose hope. The main thing is to try and draw as often as possible. If you draw at least half an hour a day, then in a few months you will notice how much your drawing skills have improved.

  4. Yeah, it looks so easy but so tUff… I tried to make those cute kawaii eyes, the black circles with 2 white dots because I was using a sharpie, but then the sharpie leaked and covered the white dots, making the eyes look soul less.
