How to Draw The Mandalorian

how to draw the mandalorian

How do you like this theme of mercenaries from the Star Wars universe? Today we will continue this because we created a guide on how to draw the Mandalorian.

Step 1

Firstly we draw a stickman. This is a little man of sticks and circles with which we outline the pose, proportions and position of the character on a piece of paper. Here we see an asymmetrical thorax, the head of which looks like an elongated oval and a small pelvis.

The right hand forms an obtuse angle and the left hand looks like a straight line. Legs have a minimal bend. Please be especially careful in this step. This is the most important stage of the whole lesson.

Step 2

We connect the chest and pelvis with smooth curved lines to get a smooth narrowing at the waist. Please note that in this step, a contour appears that is located on the upper chest. After that, we can connect the head and chest to get the neck. It should be a short sturdy cylinder.

At the end of the steps, we outline two curved lines on the face. The vertical line divides the face into two equal parts. The horizontal line indicates the location of the eyes, more precisely, the eye opening on the helmet.

Step 3

Now we outline the contours of the hands. The shoulder looks like a cylinder and the forearm looks like a truncated cone. Fists are large polygons. The joints look like articulations. If you don’t know where your shoulder or forearm is, you should look into the lesson on how to draw a Roman soldier.

Step 4

In this step we will work with the contours of the legs. The thigh tapers towards the knee. The shin first slightly expands and then narrows quite sharply. The feet of our bounty hunter have a different shape due to the angle and pose.

Step 5

Now we have a silhouette of a certain character. Let’s give it the characteristics and attributes of a bounty hunter. We will start with a helmet. First we draw a cut for the eyes. After that, we will turn over this slot with the figure in the form of a cross. At the end of the step, we will draw curved lines on the lateral sections of the bottom of the helmet.

Step 6

Great, and now it’s time to work on the approximate contours of the armor. This will be a very simple step indeed. Here we outline the outline of the armor plate on the belly of our warrior. After that, we will draw a belt around the waist and a belt that runs obliquely to the body.

Also in this step, we outline small short lines inside the fists to outline the fingers. Do not forget about the light protection on the shoulders and forearms.

Step 7

We depict the contours of the mantle that is located behind the back of our hero. Also in this step we will depict light plates of armor on the hips and legs.

Step 8

We almost complete the guide on how to draw the Mandalorian. In this step we will work with small details. First of all, we will draw the contours of the armor on the body. Then we will depict the cartridges that are mounted on the diagonal belt. After that, we draw a belt buckle and pockets that are located laterally from it. With the final touch, we will outline the small folds of fabric on the shoulders of the Mandalorian.

Step 9

We will do the same work with the arms and legs of our character. We detail these parts of the body and add the necessary elements such as tissue folds and the final outlines of the fingers. Do not forget about the cut edge of the mantle.

Step 10

It’s time to appreciate our entire drawing. Here we must evaluate the proportions, posture, correctness of individual elements and small details. It’s a bit like an armored Batman, right?

If you have not found any errors, you can safely remove the extra guide lines and proceed to the next steps.

Step 11

When the work with the basic contours and additional details is completed, we can safely proceed to the shadows. To apply the correct shadows, we must first determine which side the light source is on. After that, we outline the approximate boundaries of the shaded areas. In our case, these are sections of the helmet under curved lines, as well as the edges of the trunk and limbs.

    1. If you weren’t able to draw something the first time, then don’t worry. Practice drawing as much as possible and success will not be long in coming.

    2. I am an advanced artist but, the art teacher said I am in an intermediate class. However, I think that the Mandalorian is not that hard to draw (not because of tracing ) but, because if you really focused and know where everything is going to be it’s not that difficult. πŸ™‚

  4. sups easy, then i put a xmas hat on him bc its xmas time lol πŸ™‚

    1. Thank you.
Many of our readers ask us to draw fewer details, others ask for more details. We always have to find a middle ground in the amount of detail in our drawing lessons.

  5. i did it alright but it was kinda sloppy with all the lines everywhere but i traced the pencil with a pen and then erased the pencil and it looks better!

  6. I have been drawing for years and I’m a teenager now, and I tried to draw this and it looked so bad. I have always thought I was good at drawing and then I try to draw something like this and I realize how bad I am at drawing. I even try to trace images and I somehow fail at that. If I trace something I somehow mess up the lines and they are not even. Even If I practice drawing a ton I’m bad at it. I can’t draw anything that looks realistic, but that’s the style I want to draw in. And then even if I start to draw something and it looks good, then it turns out really bad, and the lines are not even and symmetrical.
