How to draw a violin

We really like to draw, but no less than that, we like to play musical instruments. Therefore, all members of Drawingforall.net are not only artists, but also musicians. In one of the previous drawing lessons we showed you how to draw a guitar, and here we want to continue the topic of stringed instruments and have created a lesson on how to draw a violin.

Step 1

Let’s first sketch out an oval and circle, as the artists of Drawingforall.net did in the example below. Use the lightest lines, do not push the pencil too hard.

Step 2

Using a pair of curved lines connect the circle and oval. These two lines should be very smooth and resemble the waist. Using straight lines sketch out the fingerboard. At this stage, your violin drawing may resemble a guitar.

Step 3

Draw out the check rest, tail piece, scroll and tuning pegs on the fingerboard of the violin. Try to repeat all the details as in the example below, drawn by the artists of Drawingforall.net.

Step 4

Now draw the straight strings as in our example and fine tunes. If you can, then draw the strings without using a ruler. The main thing to remember is that the strings should be approximately the same distance from each other.

Step 5

Erase all the needless guidelines that we drew in the previous steps and draw out two f-holes on the body of the violin. By the way, to give your violin drawing a bit more realism, you can add some shadows.

At the end of our lesson on how to draw a violin, we want to give you a couple of tips, by tradition. If you doubt that your drawing is smooth and symmetrical, then just bring it to the mirror and you will see all the mistakes in the proportions. When drawing strings, be sure to consider the height at which different parts of the strings are riveted so that the violin drawing does not seem flat.
