How to Draw a Great Sword

Greetings dear readers! Today we will show you how to draw a great sword. Longsword or two-handed sword is a name of various European medieval swords, which are held in both hands. Their weight and the balance did not allow one-handed grip.

 

Step 1

As in the tutorial on how to draw a longsword draw a straight line which will help us to make the sword straight and proportional.

Step 2

Draw the pommel that located right at the end of the line from the previous step.

Step 3

Draw the grip. The grips of long words can be straight or more complex shape as in our example.

Step 4

Draw the guard that should be longer than the guards of longsword or shortsword.

Step 5

Now draw the blade that should be long and tapered to the tip.

Step 6

Ease all unnecessary lines as in our example and make the lines smooth and clean.

Step 7

Add shadows using hatching and some glare using a couple of short strokes on the blade.
