Not so long ago we started a series of drawing lessons about representatives of different sports and different professions.
To begin with, let’s draw a skeleton of our basketball player. Sketch out the head and a long line of the spine, on which we draw the shape of the thorax and pelvis. With the help of long lines sketch out the arms and legs. Note that our basketball player must be higher than the average person.
On the head sketch out two intersecting lines, which will help us later to draw details of the face. Next, we outline the neck and contours of the torso. With the help of simple geometric figures sketch out the outlines of the arms and legs. In the right hand draw a round ball.
On the head sketch out the outlines of the details of the face by orienting the intersecting lines from the previous step. On the head, we also outline the contours of the hairstyle and ear. With the help of light lines we sketch out the outlines of loose clothes and shoes.
Using clear and dark lines, carefully draw out the outlines of the details of the face (eyes, nose and smiling mouth), as shown in our example. Next, outline the contours of the hair and face. Be sure to delete all unnecessary guidelines from the face.
Now move lower and take work with the details of the torso. Let’s start with the outlines of the neck. Next, using clear and dark lines draw the outlines of the loose sleeveless basketball top. Remove all unnecessary guidelines from the torso and outline a some folds of the fabric.
With the help of smooth lines draw out the contours of the muscles of the deltoids, biceps, triceps and muscles of the forearm. Carefully draw out the hands, the ball and the lines on the ball. Delete all unnecessary guidelines from the arms.
Quite a simple step in which we will draw the shorts. With the help of long lines draw numerous folds of fabric on wide shorts. Take an eraser and delete all the unnecessary guidelines from the shorts as shown in our example.
In this step we will finish drawing the body of our basketball player. With the help of long and smooth lines carefully draw out the contours of legs and basketball sneakers. Note that the basketball player’s body should not be too muscular, and the muscle lines should not be very noticeable.
The lesson about how to draw a basketball player is almost complete, and we only need to make it more voluminous, adding some shadows. First we need to figure out where the light comes from, and then add shadows with hatching of varying intensity.
As you could see, this lesson was quite difficult, but at the end of this lesson we got a fairly realistic basketball player drawing.
